If we’re being completely honest, it is really hard to beat an outdoor ceremony. Both of our couples and us love the modern, clean look of our Pines Black ceremony space, but there’s something about the breath-taking scenery that acts as the perfect decor at for an outdoor ceremony at our Pines White venue. There are many questions surrounding having and planning an outdoor ceremony, and we’re here to discuss them exactly that. Couples often think it means more to manage, more to worry about, and more that can go wrong. At The Pines, that’s not how it works.
Because Pines White is designed specifically for outdoor ceremonies, our team already has the systems, plans, and experience in place to make the entire process simple for you. This guide explains how they work here, what’s already taken care of, and what you can expect as you plan your wedding day with us.
When couples tour Pines White, one of the first things we talk about is the season they’re drawn to and what that means for their wedding experience. Spring, summer, and early fall all offer different benefits, and our team helps you choose a date that works best with your guest count, timeline, and overall vision that you communicate to us.
Rather than leaving you to guess, we guide you through what to expect during each part of the year so your date choice feels confident and well-informed from the start. We don’t always have the luxury of touring around the exact season we would like to marry in, so we are to provide all of the photos and details you need to feel secure in booking.
One of the biggest fears around outdoor weddings is weather, and rightfully-so in our unpredictable state of North Dakota. At The Pines, that’s already accounted for. Every Pines White ceremony automatically includes a weather backup plan. Our team monitors forecasts leading up to your wedding and, day of, the final call will ultimately be up to you and your spouse. All we ask for is at least a 30 minutes notice – this gives us enough time to shift some things around inside, ensuring everything is set up properly to accommodate your guests.
You don’t need to create contingency plans – that’s built into how we operate. This approach removes stress, confusion, and last-minute scrambling for our couples.
Guest comfort is not something we leave up to couples to figure out on their own. It’s built into the way Pines White is designed and how our events are managed.
From ceremony layout and spacing, to smooth guest arrival, to how guests transition from the ceremony into social hour – our team oversees the entire experience and this is all discussed with you in the unlimited amount of consultations you are able to schedule with our Client Relations Manager. This allows you to stay focused on your day while knowing your guests are taken care of.
Couples don’t have to worry about mapping out where guests enter and even running the ceremony themselves! In your consultations, you will discuss how you would like your wedding party lined up, and your day-of venue manager will gladly run the rehearsal and ceremony for you. They will also ensure that you guests are being seated and that everything is up to par before allowing the ceremony to began. Our team values your entire experience!
We handle:
Because Pines White was designed for outdoor ceremonies, the space supports this flow naturally, and our team manages it all behind the scenes.
Our standard ceremony time at The Pines is 4:30 PM, which we’ve found creates the best overall flow for the day and works beautifully with photos, dinner service, and reception timing.
That said, adjustments can be approved when needed. If a different time better fits your plans or your photographer’s needs, our team works with you to make sure everything still runs smoothly. In the planning stage, we don’t expect you to know what ceremony time is best for your wants and needs, and that is why we have experienced team members there to give you guidance.
Pines White isn’t just “an outdoor space” – it’s an outdoor ceremony venue with full operational support. That means:
Our team does. Your role is to enjoy your engagement and your wedding day. We want you to be the best version of yourself day-of, as well as have the best experience that you deserve.
Outdoor weddings don’t have to feel unpredictable or overwhelming. When the venue is built for it and the team is experienced with it, the process becomes straightforward and enjoyable. If you’re considering an outdoor ceremony in North Dakota, we’d love to not just tell you, but show you how it works at Pines White. Meet up with our team, see the space, ask all the questions, and leave feeling confident in your venue decision.
